Hotspot Control — Android application

Please read this first

Hotspot Control helps you manage and monitor your phone's existing mobile hotspot and tethering features. It does not provide free internet, it does not bypass your mobile carrier, and it cannot switch tethering on for you on modern Android — it takes you to the correct system setting. By using the App you accept these Terms.

1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Growly Media ("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the Hotspot Control mobile application (the "App"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. Your use of the App is also subject to our Privacy Policy and to Google Play's terms.

2. What the App does

The App provides tools to help you work with your device's own tethering features, including:

  • Quick shortcuts to the Android system settings for Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth tethering;
  • A session monitor with an optional timer, battery-level limit and data-usage limit, with reminders;
  • Real internet speed tests (download, upload and latency), measured against public test servers;
  • A local history of your sessions and speed-test results, stored on your device.

3. Important limitations — please read

Because of how Android and mobile networks work, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • The App does not provide free or unlimited internet and does not circumvent any restriction, charge, data cap or tethering policy imposed by your mobile carrier.
  • On Android 8 and later, apps cannot turn tethering on or off directly. The App opens the relevant system setting so you can make the change yourself; the actual state is controlled by Android, not the App.
  • Hotspot behaviour depends on your specific device, manufacturer, Android version and carrier. Some features, readings or shortcuts may be unavailable on your device, and the App will show honest "unavailable" states rather than invented values.
  • The App cannot show a list of devices connected to your hotspot, because modern Android does not expose that information to third-party apps.
  • Data-usage figures shown by the App are estimates derived from device-level statistics and may differ from your carrier's billing. Do not rely on them for billing purposes.
  • Speed-test results reflect conditions at the moment of the test and vary with network, server and device load.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and able to form a binding contract to use the App. If you are a minor, you must have your parent or guardian's permission.

5. Licence

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. We and our licensors retain all rights not expressly granted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to attempt to:

  • Use the App to violate your carrier's terms, any law, or any third party's rights;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, modify or create derivative works of the App, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
  • Interfere with, disrupt or overload the App or any service it connects to (including speed-test servers);
  • Remove or obscure any proprietary notices, or use the App to distribute malware or unlawful content.

7. Subscriptions, free trials & billing ("Pro")

The App is free to download and includes ads. Optional Hotspot Control Pro unlocks premium features and removes ads. Subscriptions and purchases are sold and processed through Google Play Billing, with entitlement managed via our billing provider RevenueCat. We never receive or store your payment-card details.

7.1 Plans

Pro is offered as one or more of the following (availability and exact pricing are always shown in the App and confirmed by Google Play before you buy):

  • a weekly auto-renewing subscription;
  • an annual auto-renewing subscription;
  • a one-time lifetime purchase.

7.2 Prices and free trials

All prices, currencies, billing periods and any free-trial length are set in Google Play and shown to you at the point of purchase. We do not hardcode or misstate prices in the App — the figures you see come from the store.

7.3 Auto-renewal

Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Google account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription.

7.4 Managing and cancelling

You manage, cancel or change your subscription in Google Play → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro access until the end of the current paid period. Cancellation does not delete the App.

7.5 Refunds

Payments are handled by Google. Refunds are subject to Google Play's refund policy and, where applicable, your statutory rights. Except where required by law, subscription fees are non-refundable for periods already started. Contact us and we will help where we reasonably can, but the refund decision rests with Google.

8. Advertising

The free version is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. By using the free version you agree to the display of ads. Where required, the App asks for your ad-consent choice, which you can change in the App's settings. Subscribing to Pro removes ads.

9. Third-party services

The App relies on third-party services (including Google Play, Google Mobile Ads, Firebase, RevenueCat and public speed-test servers). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. See our Privacy Policy for details.

10. Intellectual property

The App, its name, logo, design, and content (excluding third-party and user content) are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer any such rights to you.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device, carrier or Android version, or that any reading, estimate or speed-test result is accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim, or EUR 10. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), and your mandatory consumer rights are not affected.

13. Changes to the App and to these Terms

We may update, change or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Termination

You may stop using the App and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the App. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) will survive.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located there have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings, or requires the application of your local law. (Confirm the governing-law country/jurisdiction before publishing.)
